Company Overview
Welcome to ICUcare LLC. The company is dedicated to developing and deploying technologically advanced solutions in the form of Patient-Centered Medical Technologies. Count on ICUcare LLC when passion demonstrated by technologically advanced solutions really count. Remember, exceptional products backed by exceptional service are our standard. ICUcare LLC is dedicated to making a difference!

The company was founded by Robert E. Higgs. As is often times the case in real life situations, the vision and subsequent technologies as developed and marketed by the company was birthed from a near tragedy involving Mr. Higgs wife, Carole. Mrs. Higgs was admitted to an acute care hospital facility for a common surgical procedure. Normally speaking, the hospital stay for this type of procedure was expected to last only two to three days.

Over the next 35 days with 27 days in an ICU environment, Carole found herself fighting for her very life. Mr. Higgs observed that many of the very systems for which his wife Carole's well being rested were either flawed or simply non-existent. Mr. Higgs, himself an engineer made a commitment to his wife and himself that he would apply all his experience and abilities to help bring about change to an industry that for too long has resisted fundamental change in many areas having to do with clinical decision making.

Mr. Higgs, himself a proven entrepreneur/engineer and the President of a well respected company by the name of CSI Engineering (formerly CSI Industries d/b/a Chemical Systems) set out to develop and establish the framework for a patient-centered technology based company whose only mission was to bring about change in the nation’s Health Care System to the benefit of patients, care givers and the industry itself.

That was nearly two years ago. ICUcare LLC was formed in August of 2008, and on July 15th, 2009, we launched the first of three product lines, "eDoc® Telemedicine". Since that time, the company has developed and is Beta testing a totally revamped version of the eDoc® Telemed software platform to include a certifiable EHR.

The second of these revolutionary technologies, eDoc® 1st Responders is planned to debut in June of 2010. This new and exciting technology will take what we have learned during the development of the eDoc® Telemedicine System and repackage it in a small portable ABS type suit-case suitable for deployment in the most challenging environment's as may be found anywhere in the world. Oh, and by the way, the communications shall be assured by way of satellite based broadband system (BGAN) anywhere in the world. Our goal is simple, we want to be able to provide the technology to support state of the art medical care to anyone, anywhere in the world on a 24/7 basis.

That's not all, the company is working on a third technology for deployment in Intensive Care Units at acute care hospitals called, you guessed it, eDoc® ICU. The very concepts as are embodied in the design of this new system represent "disruptive technology". One of the design features of the system involves a state-of-the-art decision making support attributes. The system will deploy with a usable database of over 800,000 patient case histories. These case histories of what intervention(s) or clinical decision making directives produced a positive and desired outcome as well as those which did not, represents the most knowledge based clinical decision support technology ever to be developed. This coupled with a measured amount of "AI" (artificial intelligence) will provide evidence driven medical decision making possibilities never before possible.

The above "snap-shot" is only the tip of the ice-burg. There is much more planned for this radical new approach to pro-active practiced medicine. Stay tuned in the coming months for new released insights of where patient-centered evidence-based medicine at the bedside is headed.
